The Dingle Diner - Family Restaurant

Dingles latest eatery has opened its doors at “The Holy Ground” and will pitch its business at a group of diners not well catered for in West Kerry’s gastronomic centre of excellence. Exclusive, delicious, mouth watering but expensive cuisine is Dingles trade mark. “The Diner” fulfils all these traits but at very affordable prices. Located centre-stage in Dingle, where every visitor will be sure to pass, this restaurant shops local, thinks local and employs locals to give you an authentic taste of Dingle you will remember causing you to lick your lips each time that memory flashes on the inward eye !
The Holy Ground was once just as the name suggests - a series of holes used in the preparation of leather. The street is noticeably wider than all others in the town. Dingles streets were built largely during the middle ages and The Holy Ground had another row of houses right trough the middle of the street. Lord Ventry was instrumental in clearing these hovels by building the larger houses on both sides and blocking out the light. This area must always have been busy as this is where you will arrive whether you come to Dingle by land or by sea. In recent memory “Penny’s Pottery” occupied the site of the Diner and before that Mrs. O Shea had a grocer shop there. Previous to that Mike O Shea had a carpenters workshop there where he plied his trade. Mikes father came into town from the country a hundred years ago and made horse carts downstairs and coffins upstairs. When made, the coffins would be lowered through the ceiling down to where the inside door of the diner is today. To-days owners knocked the ancient stone structure to replace it with a modern building to satisfy all the needs of a modern Irish diner and continue the honest endeavour in an area that has not known idleness, for hundreds certainly, and possibly thousands of years.
The Dingle Diner is loosely based on the U.S. model with it’s wide range of food served in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It has the traditional counter, the soft seats and the peoples music crooning softly in the background. Marie and Colm opened their restaurant in 2010 after researching the market and are building their reputation on freshly produced servings of Irish beef/lamb, chicken, and pizzas with salads and tasty starters. Of course no Dingle eatery would be complete without some fish and one of the most popular dishes is fresh Dingle fish deep-fried. Burgers art home-made
Ensuring full traceability of the produce. This eatery is highly recommended and all can dine deliciously here in comfort without breaking the bank !
“Dining in Dingle”, - experience the pleasure of premium product without crippling cost ! You deserve it.
